(town) and either the Prior of Tipper (granted heathland), or a Saxon named Tippa.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-left\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>Pre 1800s<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Heathland Era<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Heathland stretched from present-day Pods Wood to Great Braxted, divided into areas known as Bigmores\/Sadlers, Paternoster, Whittakers, and Messing Heath. Annual Races and Fairs held each July attracted vagabonds, smugglers, and thieves, earning the area the nickname: &#8220;land of heath and thief&#8221;, with the Goose Fairs continuing into the early 1900s.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-right\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>1842<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Agricultural Innovation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">John Joseph Mechi developed Bigmores\/Sadlers Heath for agricultural experimentation and rebuilt Bigmores Hall (now Tiptree Hall).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">As an Alderman, he supported the building of the Church and School in Tolleshunt Knights.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-left\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>1885<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Industrial and Social Growth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Arthur Charles Wilkin began jam-making at Trewlands Farm. Previously the area formed seven parishes: Tolleshunt Knights, Tolleshunt Darcy, Great Wigborough, Great Braxted, Messing, Inworth, and Tollesbury (detached).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-left\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>1950s &#8211; 1970s<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">Strawberry Boom <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">The heath evolved into flower fields, allotments, and fruit and vegetable gardens.
