Grove Road Playing Field
Opened in 1949, was given to the Village by Mr HR Arnold, a local businessman and member of the Parish Council. The playing Field Extension was agreed in 2004 as part of the planning permission for the Grove Road Estate. This centrally located amenity has play equipment suitable for all ages, including a skate park opened in 2013. Facilities include a small car park and on-site toilet. While much of the site consists of close mown grass, areas of longer grass are left, together with managed trees (both mature and newly planted) and hedges as well as a shallow open stream, to provide wildlife habitats. The site is used for community events and celebrations. Dogs are not allowed. There are seasonal opening and closing times.
Grove Lake
Purchased by the Parish Council in 1971. It consists of four component parts: a formal lake containing carp, roach and tench with a population of wild mallard ducks: a mown grass area with seating and picnic tables: a natural pond behind the main lake and an informal grass area edged by a boardwalk – the ‘Peter More Pathway.’ Mature trees and managed scrub border the entire site, as well as areas of longer grass, creating habitats and promoting biodiversity. Visitors are asked not to feed the ducks with bread, which pollutes the water and is unhealthy food for ducks. There is a duck food dispenser on the site which 10% of the profits goes towards the Tiptree Hub.
Park Lane Nature Reserve and Amenity Land
Comprising of three parcels of land, bordered by a bridleway leading to Tolleshunt Knights, the Nature Reserve provides just over six acres of tranquil open space for visitors to enjoy. The original field was purchased by Tiptree Parish Council in 1979 and opened as a Nature Reserve in 1999. An extension, donated by AA Gaffney, together with amenity land secured through planning permission agreement in 2005, completed a mosaic of biodiverse managed park land, grassland, woodland, stream and pond suitable for walking, off lead dog walking, picnicking and family recreation. Habitat focused information boards provide added interest.
Coriander Road Open Space – Great contained area for ball games.
Memorial Garden
The Memorial Garden, opened in 2018, is a beautiful and peaceful place for the scattering and interment of human remains together with a memorial wall. It provides a quiet place to sit, reflect and remember. The garden is surrounded by native hedges with central planted raised beds, grassed areas, trees and shrubs, which attract wildlife.
Thyme Road Play area – A quiet and secluded play area located to the rear of the library.
Warriors Rest Woodland – A Peaceful woodland walking area perfect for a quiet walk with your dog.
Colchester Road – Football field that is leased to Tiptree Heath FC.
Windmill Green
Formerly the Co-op gravel pit, this fragment of common land was gradually filled, levelled, seeded and planted and in 1965 became Windmill Green. It was later claimed by Tiptree Parish Council, creating an attractive entrance to the Village, particularly when the Christmas tree is bright with lights. Although mainly close mown for public recreational use and dog walking, areas of longer grass are left and a native hedge and trees bordering the site maintained to provide habitats for wildlife and increase biodiversity. Details of the site’s history and management can be found on the information board on the Green.
